The University expects its contractors and their sub-contractors to be aware of environmental issues and have in place procedures to minimise their impact on the environment. Contractors should be aware of the University¡¯s Environment and Sustainability Policy and how their operations relate to our requirements.

The University is looking for contractors to demonstrate their commitment to minimising their impact on the environment by:

• Having an environmental policy.
• Identifying someone responsible for environmental issues.
• Adopting an environmental management system, such as ISO14001 or EMAS.
• Providing training to their staff on environmental issues.
• Learning from any convictions for environmental incidents.
• Evidence of having taken steps to reduce their environmental impact.
• Employing competent sub-contractors who will also have in place similar measures.

Contractors must complete a site environmental risk assessment to identify the hazards and the actions they will take to manage them.
