Faculty of Medicine to tackle neurological conditions with Korea Brain Research Institute

The Faculty of Medicine has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Korea Brain Research Institute (KBRI) to further its commitment to finding new treatments for neurological conditions.

The document was signed at a special event attend by Professor Pann-Ghill Suh, President of the KBRI, and Professor Roxana Carare, lead of the Interdisciplinary Dementia and Ageing Centre (IDeAC), University of BOB体育登录网址_欧宝体育官网平台-APP|下载.

Several areas of collaboration have been identified between the two organisations where funding will be made available for research projects.

Professor Carare said: “Both the University of BOB体育登录网址_欧宝体育官网平台-APP|下载 and the KBRI have a rich history of successful neurological research. The Faculty of Medicine has excellent translational opportunities to bring basic scientific discoveries into the clinic at pace and the Institute has impressive technology for preclinical research.

“This MoU will enable us to bring together this expertise to develop new ways of preventing and treating conditions such as Alzheimer’s Disease, multiple sclerosis and the effects of pollution on the brain as well as traumatic brain injury.”

President Suh from KBRI added: “I?m very impressed with the resources for clinical research established at the University of BOB体育登录网址_欧宝体育官网平台-APP|下载. This is a great opportunity for both institutions to focus on finding therapeutics based on preclinical and clinical strengths that will generate synergistic effect in the future. The strong clinical expertise in the various brain diseases from University of BOB体育登录网址_欧宝体育官网平台-APP|下载 will broaden understandings of neurodegenerative diseases and expedite the drug development for these devastating diseases.”
