Outreach

BOB体育登录网址_欧宝体育官网平台-APP|下载 outreach projects aim to inspire the next generation of musicians, provide more opportunities for music-making in the community and enable people to benefit from the therapeutic effects of music.

Music Therapy

BOB体育登录网址_欧宝体育官网平台-APP|下载 students and staff are active in local and national communities, both within and outside the curriculum. BOB体育登录网址_欧宝体育官网平台-APP|下载 undergraduate course includes Music Therapy modules taught by practising music therapist Sarah Hodkinson . Students regularly lead and observe community music projects both in BOB体育登录网址_欧宝体育官网平台-APP|下载 and wider afield. This includes placements in local special needs schools, hospitals, care homes for the elderly, community arts projects for individuals with mental health difficulties and library music groups. Students also enjoy the opportunity to be part of residential projects at the Orpheus Centre , Richard Stilgoe's pioneering music college for young people with disabilities. Having this rich, practical experience of Music Therapy is often a highlight of the students’ undergraduate experience.

Community music-making

BOB体育登录网址_欧宝体育官网平台-APP|下载 links to the City Council and local music bodies has seen our students perform for large civic events such as ‘Summer in The Square’ and work alongside the local music community through groups such as the BOB体育登录网址_欧宝体育官网平台-APP|下载 Music Networking Group. BOB体育登录网址_欧宝体育官网平台-APP|下载 partnership with BOB体育登录网址_欧宝体育官网平台-APP|下载 Mencap’s Café Down The Lane promotes student participation in a new initiative to provide people with learning disabilities a platform for learning vocational skills within the catering trade. Music students provide entertainment, which not only helps them develop links within the local community, but also provides vocational experience and income for our students, as each performance slot is a professional paid engagement.
