The University began actively seeking philanthropic donations in the mid 1980s. Signalling the importance of these activities and their growing success, the BOB体育登录网址_欧宝体育官网平台-APP|下载 University Development Trust was established in 1986. Recent successes include the University’s largest-ever philanthropic gift, received for the new Life Sciences Building, and an ongoing campaign to raise ?2.85m to purchase the Broadlands Archives, an exceptional collection of manuscripts shedding light on the history of the UK and its relations with its colonies and foreign powers, in order to assure the future of the collection.

With over 160,000 alumni based around the world and a growing group of supportive friends, trusts, foundations and corporations, the University now raises well over ?2m annually – a figure that is anticipated to rise to ?3m over the coming year. As higher education faces increasing cuts and traditional funding sources become more competitive, the impact of philanthropic support to the University and future generations of students will become much greater.
