This week, Monday 19 September, the University celebrated the opening of its newest hall of residence.

Chamberlain Hall, located on Glen Eyre Road, welcomes its first student residents this weekend.? The hall, which represents a ?36m investment by the University, comprises 356 en-suite bedrooms across five blocks of four storeys, all within easy walking distance of the University’s Highfield Campus.

Professor Alex Neill, Vice-President (Education), marked the opening of the new hall with the planting of a tree, at a ceremony attended by local councillors, University staff and representatives from the site’s developer Osborne.

He said: “As a University we have a commitment to delivering the highest quality of student experience possible.

“We have maintained a focus on quality throughout the design and delivery of Chamberlain Hall, the goal always being to create a space that students will enjoy living in and that will enhance their university experience. I am confident that we have achieved this goal by creating a contemporary, bright and inviting home for our students.”

Chamberlain Hall features shared kitchens, laundry facilities, common rooms, and a range of study spaces for independent and group learning.

A new bus pull-in, serving both students and the local community, has also been developed on the site.
