The University?is proudly declaring its support for the City’s bid to be the 2025 UK City of Culture.

Vice-President, Professor Mark Spearing, Chair of the University’s Civic Engagement group commented:

“The University is excited to be a partner of the City of Culture bid. We have a long history of supporting arts and culture in BOB体育登录网址_欧宝体育官网平台-APP|下载, both directly through our venues such as the Turner Sims and John Hansard gallery, but also through our university community, who I am sure will be eager to engage.”

The UK City of Culture is awarded to one city, every four years, for one year. It can have a huge positive social and economic impacts. Previous winners have reported increased tourism, investment and employment for their cities.

The Bid Team says:

Over the years we have rolled up our sleeves and got stuff done, but now is our time to shout about our great city and all that happens here.”

The winning city will be announced in December 2021.
