SUSSED News

SUSSED is moving to an improved platform

As part of our ongoing strategic review of our communications channels, over the coming weeks we will be retiring the use of the current platform for SUSSED and moving our University updates into SharePoint.

Once this move has been completed, you will notice some changes in the format of some of our SUSSED articles. Colleagues will also have the opportunity to subscribe to the new platform for email alerts about university updates.

Why are we doing this?

  • To improve cyber security and remove external access to internal news, as SharePoint requires authentication to view the content.
  • To provide a more streamlined experience for our audience as colleagues will need to look at fewer websites when looking for internal news.
  • To address the issues and delays with subscriber emails that some staff have experienced recently.
  • To provide a more contemporary and flexible look and feel

Subscribing to receive email notifications of SUSSED articles

We are aware that some colleagues who are subscribed to SUSSED are no longer receiving SUSSED subscriber emails and as part of the move, the current subscription model will be retired. An improved subscription functionality is in development and will be released over the summer so that colleagues who choose to, can receive direct alerts into their email account about university updates.

We will email all current subscribers directly ahead of the launch inviting them to subscribe to the new platform, in addition to carrying out wider promotion across our channels.

How will this affect me?

When complete:

  • Colleagues will need to be logged into our systems (Microsoft 365) to access internal news; for colleagues who have subscribed using a personal (home) email address, you will no longer be able to access the system from an external account.
  • /blog/sussed-news will be retired, with a redirect to the internal site.
  • Colleagues who are subscribed using their @soton addresses will receive an email inviting them to re-subscribe. You will also find the information on how to subscribe to the new platform across our other channels, including SUSSED and the Staff Digest.
