Module overview
Reflective practice is a standard of good practice for helping professions. It is becoming routinely used in homelessness services. This module will provide an introductory understanding of reflective practice models and its application to practice.

Having successfully completed this module you will be able to:
- Demonstrate self-reflection around equality, diversity, and inclusion.
- Demonstrate ability to utilise supervision effectively to reflect upon personal effectiveness, and shape and change practice.
- Demonstrate self-reflection of working within own competence and when to seek external support.
- Demonstrate understanding of the utility of being reflective when working with populations that have complex needs.
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of reflective practice models.
Syllabus
This module will cover the following topics:
? Introduction to reflective practice models.
? Working reflexively.
? Opportunity to engage with a clinical/counselling psychologist running a reflective practice group to bring client, personal, and/or professional issues for reflection.
? The benefits of reflective practice – evidence from research.
? Problem solving.
? Supervision – purposes, process, models, utilising supervision.
? Support – seeking external support and consultation.
Learning and Teaching
Teaching and learning methods
Teaching and learning methods include lectures and workshops, which incorporate demonstrations, role-play, experiential learning and small group work. In addition, private study and assigned reading forms an important source of knowledge and understanding. We use a range of teaching and learning methods, and recognise that students have different preferred learning styles.
