This project falls within the field of levitated optomechanics, focusing on experiments involving nanodiamond particles with nitrogen-vacancy (NV) quantum defects. The aim is to explore the coupling between the internal spin degrees of freedom of the NV centres and the particle's motion, with the objective of creating macroscopic quantum states.
This studentship is linked to a new UKRI funded project, Food Aid Inequality Rectified (FAIR-food). The interdisciplinary research team is collaborating with community researchers and local food aid providers to improve the quality of food made available in food pantries/clubs across BOB体育登录网址_欧宝体育官网平台-APP|下载, the New Forest and the Isle of Wight.
Pertussis is an infectious disease caused by the bacterium, Bordetella pertussis. Disease can occur across the life course but is most significant in children under the age of 1 year where serious, life-threatening complications may occur. Unfortunately, pertussis has resurged globally despite high vaccine coverage. In order to better control this disease, new vaccines are required that induce long-lasting protection and generate herd immunity.
